JUDGEMENT, Some thoughts
Having read “The Shack”, A Purpose Filled Life”, and other books and have some how gleaned a few of their many fruit’s a revelation, to me, about “judgment” formed. God’s purpose for our lives is simply to love and take care of each other. We can fulfill God’s purpose for our lives in only one way-through relationships with other of God’s children. There is no way we can love and take care of them without relating to them individually. Once we have accepted God’s purpose for us, we need to find out what is it that keeps us from having those needed relationships with them? Doesn’t is almost always result from our having made a judgment that justifies our not having that relationship.
Our worldly existence teaches us that to be independent is to be strong. And who doesn’t want to be strong? (It takes a lot of nearness to God to know that real strength is our dependence on Him so His strength is released through us.) In any event, in our need for independence, we build institutions, rules, and regulations in our lives that protect our independence but, at the same time form personal “specifications” which are the basis for so many judgments that keep us from those relationships needed to fulfill our purpose. One step further…each of those personal judgments that keep us apart from God’s other children is really redundant or just an excuse to be independent and thus, “above” the purpose God has provided for us. God has already made those same judgments and has accepted those judged. How do we know? He, in the most amazing act of Love ever. He sent His Son to die for us so we would know! He accepted us all just as we are, sins and all. For us to make a judgment that keeps us from accepting anyone and having a relationship with that person is. in essence, saying that God is incorrect. Who wants to do that? Not I!
Is there some worldly advice to be given to put us on the right fork in the road which takes us toward fulfilling the real purpose of our lives? It would likely be, “ Get yourself and your personal “specifications” out of the way and let God have His way with you.”
